Hi! I’m currently a third-year PhD student at S3D within Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science, jointly advised by Lorrie Cranor and Hoda Heidari. I am also currently affiliated with the Center for Democracy & Technology, where I am working with the AI Governance Lab on questions related to how to define, measure, and improve fairness in decisions informed by foundation models.

My research interests are centered on AI’s societal impacts, especially where it poses risks to people’s civil rights and liberties, and interventions to mitigate these risks. For example, some questions that frame my work are: How can we characterize and measure sociotechnical harms from AI in ways that are not only valid, but also practically useful to key stakeholders? How should we share and assign responsibility for managing AI’s risks, especially as supply chains become increasingly complex?

I graduated from Harvey Mudd College in 2024, where I majored in Computer Science and Math. As an undergraduate, I spent two summers at CMU’s CyLab working with Lorrie Cranor [usable security & privacy], one summer at MIT’s IDSS with Peko Hosoi [housing equity & algorithmic fairness], two semesters with Professor Susan Martonosi [misinformation on social media], and two semesters with Lawrence Livermore National Lab through the Harvey Mudd Clinic Program [empirical scaling laws in machine learning].

I spend most of my free time drawing, reading, and lifting weights.
